Thank you. Sorry it took me so long to get back.
We have a basic account, and when I log into CPanel, I see everything. What I wanted to show someone was the current dinosaur site and the developmental folder which has WordPress & I am not sure what else, and I don't think setting permissions at the WP level has much relevance to access through CPanel.
Same scenario occurs with any contractor, regardless of platform, I guess, unless there are direct access programs. FTP comes to mind. Maybe I'm showing my currency (or lack thereof) in technology.
Another option I guess is for me to print screen shots of folder structure in our WordPress directory and maybe the folder names will suggest to someone what other 'elements' are integrated into WP. I'm struggling with vocabulary here as I haven't looked at it in a year and forgot most of what I was trying to get up to speed on for WP.
I get that there is typically some kind of theme, and since it's image-intensive, there is a dynamic app like a slider or whatever it's called that does the fancy image transitions as the mouse moves.
My problem is in 'talking over' an installation for which the down payment was paid (initial installation and some tweaking)then mutually agreed to not pursue further.
I either have to figure out where the 'access points', tools, interfaces, whatever, exist to make changes, or start over, maybe with a WP 'template' that guides me through the installation from scratch so it comes with an 'owner's manual'.
I'm not as clueless as I imply...just behind the times. What frustrates me is that many of the tools that come with a hosting package don't always fit the requirements or "plug into" the server correctly or obviously, and that just seems to be an area hosting companies are weird about. They provide tools but not necessarily instructions on integrating them, or have security restrictions against some of the scripts. Or a script (or whatever) requires a later version of some infrastructural component that's not on your server. Or they update it and don't tell you, and you have servers to gain that access and something else gets hosed, for lack of another term.
I just have to get on the same page at the same speed, I guess.
