(almost) no spam this morning -- what's up?
« on: December 02, 2003, 06:39:32 AM »
This morning I was faced with only about thirty spam postings, instead of my usual 150. Has Lunarpages installed filtering, or are the spammers out doing their holiday shopping, or what? Is anybody else noticing this? (Not that I'm complaining, mind you!)

It appears you're right. My accounts are on Galaxy and Neptune, and I have gotten no more mail this morning on either account. Why does it seem that Lunarpages has such frequent outages? I don't recall having had this problem with previous hosts.

My mail just started coming through now.  The messages I'm getting are 2+ hours old so maybe things are fixed?

DOS attacks are very effective in slowing things down. I noticed a slight delay in delivery, and then it all streamed ina while late. So have no fear - you should still get those 120 other messages soon enough.

Sadly, you're right: They all arrived, safe and sound, to stink up my inbox. Too bad the anti-spam legislation they're working on will likely have no effect.

The internet is a place of very few rules - The spam legislation so far has only created havoc fro genuine e-publishers.
