Critical CentOS and RedHat Kernel Patch
« on: August 24, 2009, 01:47:46 PM »
Hello,

A serious security vulnerability has been found in the existing CentOS and RedHat kernels. This flaw allows local users to gain root-like privileges on the system, so patching this security flaw is of critical importance. You may find further details at the following locations:

https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2009-1223.html

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=516949

For our managed customers, we will begin updating the kernel for your server starting today. Please note that a kernel upgrade does require a server reboot.

For our non-managed customers, you may email to request we upgrade your kernel for a flat fee of $45.00. Please ensure to provide your control panel username, primary domain name and the last 4 digits of your credit card on file when requesting this feature in your ticket to dedicated@lunarpages.com

If you have any questions on this, please let us know at the same email of dedicated@lunarpages.com

Thank you,
Lunarpages Systems Administrator Team

So everyone who has a Linux dedicated server will need this?  I am on the managed lite plan for $9.95 a month, will you still do the fix for that type of plan automatically?
