One size fits all....
« on: July 17, 2007, 05:09:11 AM »
As a novice with basic html skills I sometimes use web templates to start of. At the moment I use a css template as I am a bit lazy to learn it at moment. Same with Wordpress etc. Although I find wordpress templates can be very scary when you look at them. I was wondering why all these lovely people who give us the free css templates and wordpress templates, do not design a template for web and wordpress that looks the same. I know it will be two different templates, but as long as they look the same. I only saw it once where you can have the same web and wordpress look. Pitty! Would be nice for everything to blend and have uniformity. If anyone knows about a site that offer such items let me know. It is too early for me to pay someone to design something for me.

Unless you have a real specific reason not to, I would suggest running the entire web site under WordPress.  Using the pages option inside of WordPress, that could give you what you need as far as regular ol' static pages go - then you also get the benefits of blogging as well. :)

Never really thought about it as you suggest, Mitch. I will toil a bit with the idea in a sepearate folder. I presume there are limitations?

Well, you would be limited to posting stuff that is considered "postable" via the WordPress "create a new page" interface.  I think you might find that you like it though.  I've pretty much started using WordPress for all of my web sites (blog and not blogs) just because playing around with it has become almost kinda like second nature to me. :)  I've done some template editing on my personal page - but it should give you a good idea of what a "blogless" WordPress web site could look like.  Taking it that far though might be more than you want to take on right now though.

Great design Mitch, love your site, also wanted to note there are a lot of free templates you can use to help develop your own design or layout with making some minor adjustments and swapping out images and color, here is a link:
