How to change default root path
« on: October 10, 2006, 01:13:35 PM »
Hello guys,

When some one type www.abc.com in their web browser , it should go to to -> www.abc.com/myfolder/test.aspx rather than www.abc.com/sitebuilder/index.html

How can i do it? Thanks

DirectoryIndex test.aspx

How to change default root path of website
« Reply #3 on: October 11, 2006, 06:09:31 AM »
Hello guys,

I recently bought a domain name and basic windows plan  from lunarpages. The default configuration is re directing people to go to subdirectory (www.abc.com/site). How can i change the default root of the website?

Can some one let me know how to change by using PLESK system (provided by lunarpages)? I posted same question in another thread and some one reply saying i need to change in .htaccess file? Where can i find that file?

Thank you all

champ1234, your most two recent topics were pretty much the same questions in different sections of the forums, so I merged them together.  Please try to keep discussion on a single issue in one thread so we don't have multiple people giving you the same answers.  Thanks!

Hello champ1234 ,

You would be unable to use .htaccess in Windows plans due to the way that IIS works vs Apache.

You can set the order of pages searched for index page by doing the following:

Login to Plesk

Click your domain

Click Web Directories

Click Preferences

In the section labeled Documents, you can set the order of which files are searched. If you want index.aspx, instead of index.html, you would make sure that the index.aspx is above index.html.

As test.aspx does not exist, you would need to add that in the same section.

I hope that this cleared up any confusion.
Kind Regards,
