how to make my images load faster
« on: April 08, 2006, 05:54:26 PM »
what should I do to make them load faster without losing the quality? I am using PSP9 and my resolution is 100.000. All the images are jpg. The images come up relativly for me but I'm sure that's because the files are already on my computer. Any suggestions? Oh and I suggest when you look if you have your speakers up really high I would turn it down a bit. Thanks
you thought you could break me,
control me and bend me to your will,
but you cannot use me,
this world cannot hold me,
I am and will remain unbroken.

I always optimize my images becaz you dont need high resolution printer quality images to be seen on a site. I go about 75% which reduces 100,000 bytes down to less than 25,000 bytes making the page load MUCH faster and still looks fine.

Another thing to look at (ahem...) is: are you sending over large images and using HTML code to scale them down? If you have a 1024 x 1024 image and display it at height="64" width="64" you're wasting a lot of bandwidth. It's best to send images over already sized (scaled) to the final display size, rather than letting the browser scale down a huge image file. Use separate thumbnail images for an index or table of contents.
