Absence of rewrite module on Webmin
« on: March 08, 2006, 11:03:46 AM »
Hi to All.

My sites are in a Unix server (virtual) with Apache 1.3.33 and Webmin (version 1.140) installed. Both were intalled and configured by third parties. Now I see that I'm unable to redirect URLs either through .htaccess files or Alias and Redirect directives. I see that on the page of active Apache Modules doesn't appear mod_rewrite. Also on Re-Configure Known Modules page doesn't appear such a module to be activated.

On the other hand, on the Edit Conf Files of the Global Configuration, at the default virtual hosts, ports 80 and 443, appears
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
      RewriteEngine On
        RewriteOptions inherit
    </IfModule>

May somebody to clear me about the question? Is there something wrong with the installations? Do I need to do something more?

Thanks in advance,
miranda

I've updated the webmin to 1.260 and loaded the rewrite module. However I continue unable to redirect URLs. Any idea?

Hello Miranda,

What options are you using to recompile apache? Or are you doing it over Webmin? If you are compiling it from the command line add the "--enable-module=rewrite" without quotes.
That should install the module.
