Java program HELP!!!
« on: January 21, 2006, 12:23:26 AM »
This might be a bit off topic but I'll give it a try.

I got a java program from a friend. The programs purpose to  scan web pages on an IP number to identify possible fake banks. It is used in conjunction with a service as whois.sc.

The problem is I can't seem to get the thing properly installed on my computer.

Is there anyone out there that knows java and can help?

Is it source files?
E.g are the files *.java or *.class, or *.html

Thanks for responding, this program is driving me mad. I figured since I host my sites on lunar I might as well try asking here

The file that is supposed to execute the whole thing is a batch file. I click on it and for a fraction of a second I get a dos screen that blinks.

The program is a series of codes and sub files under directories. Here are the directories

BankBot1_1
classes
Corpus
doc
Keywords
src

Here is a partial quote from the instructions on installation

"So how do I run this d*mned thing? It should be pretty straight forward: If you're reading this, you're probably lokng at the source code. I've included pre-compiled versions of the software Just run the file: "Roundup.bat" this is a batch file which launches everything. You'll now see the GUI. Create a text file, and name it "in.txt" in this text file, one entry per line, put the domain names you want to scan first. Save the text file in the same directory the Robo Roundup is in. Now, click the button marked: "Clean Domains". This will now clean up the domain list of any duplicate domains. Once this is finished, (It takes all of 5 seconds, usually) click the "Scan" button. If you haven't changed any of the checkboxes or fields, you should now have an output file in the same directory named: "out.csv"."

Sounds like yo udon't have the java runtime installed.
Try this:
press windows key + r
in the run dialog type cmd
when the dos box comes up type java
you should get something like this:
Code: [Select]
Usage: java [-options] class [args...]
           (to execute a class)
or  java [-options] -jar jarfile [args...]
           (to execute a jar file)
if you don't then you need to install java!
http://java.com/en/download/windows_xpi.jsp

hope that helps!
