Boot Disks vs. WinXP Disk.
« on: September 21, 2005, 01:35:55 PM »
My Toshiba laptop was stolen

But of course they did not get my recovery disks.

I've got a Compaq PC that I'd love to reformat and reinstall Windows on so that I can get rid of all the garbage that came with it.

Can I just use the recovery disk that came with my laptop - on the PC - and do a full format with it?
Trying to daydream, but my mind keeps wandering.

the recovery disk will likely have most of the drivers you needed for your laptop, and if you used it on your PC likeliness is it'd cause problems, did you not get a recovery cd with your machine, you can request a new XP cd from microsoft to go with your licence that will of came on your machine for £3-£5 ($6-$10).

you COULD use your laptop disk, but beforehand i reccommend you download some of the drivers your PC may need to a CD just incase.
