Where to buy Photoshop 7
« on: October 23, 2004, 03:08:06 PM »
I was wonering if you are still able to get Adobe Photoshop 7 with a student discount? I know AcademicSupersore.com used to carry it, but now they only have CS 8, which isn't what I want. It doesn't have to be a student discount, just for a reasonalby cheap price, not including eBay, or any used thing. Oh yea, and it has to be for OS X. Thanks.

Does it have to be PS, The GIMP is pretty good, once you get used to the UI, and free.  You try froogle.com ?

PhotoShop CS is the latest version, so what you are really looking for is an older version, correct? I'm sure the old version is out there somewhere, but it might be harder to locate because it isn't the most recent version... at the same time though, it might mean that you can find it cheaper...
The above information may or may not reflect current policy, opinions, or views since it was likely made almost 10 years ago.

I have only used the gimp on linux, and thought it was a good program (for being free), but how does it work on the Mac? Do they update it as often, the UI?

Yeah, partly the reason I want 7 is because I would be able to get it at a cheaper price, but also that I have heard a lot of reviews on 8 saying it's nothing really new, just more clunky. I am on an Apple iBook with a 1.2 ghz processor, so I don't want anything unneccessarily clunky.

If you haven't already bought it, I highly suggest getting Adobe Photoshop Elements instead.
Trying to daydream, but my mind keeps wandering.

I've been using CS for some time now and I love it.  Nothing clunky about it that I can see.  It's less bogged down that 7.

Either way, try ebay if you can't get it anywhere else.
