Aaryn Ddos attack.
« on: July 13, 2004, 11:56:52 AM »
I can't access my domain or subdomains (email, web, ftp, cpanel, etc).  My domain is on aaryn.

Is this a system wide problem?

Thanks,
Jeff

There is a synflood attack going on apparently.  They are working on it.

Hopefully there will be a fix SOON!

Hi Jeff,

Yes, we are working to fix the issue as quickly as possible.  We will keep you updated on the http://www.lunarpages.com/login.php page where it has Network Status.

Thanks.

So does that mean any email sent to me during this down time is lost or is it being queued somewhere?  Needless to say it would be VERY bad if it is lost since this is my business' main contact from customers!

Hi Jeff,

Based on the fact that the server cannot accept mail at this time due to the attack, messages would likely bounce to their sender.  Some servers keep messages in queue and attempt to resend them over a 3 day period.  There is nothing we can do to prevent them from bouncing since the attack is ongoing as we attempt to block it and restore services.  I understand your frustration in this issue, but senders should be able to tell the mail did not go through when they receive a bounce and can then resend shortly when services resume.

Thanks.

Also, please always view the http://www.lunarpages.com/login.php page. I am locking this thread as there are 2 other threads already about Aaryn. Please reply to the one Thu just provided for other details.

I don't normally log in through http://www.lunarpages.com/login.php and it's not terribly obvious that "Webhosting Help" is a place to look for information. You might want to consider putting this kind of information under "Server Information" since THAT'S WHERE I would think that IT BELONGS, considering it's apparently a server-related problem. Am I missing something here?

I'm in the same boat... the longer my email and site are down, the more business I am losing. Definitely not a happy camper right now.  :(

What kind of ETA are we looking at for getting this fixed?

Isn't there redundancy for situations like this?  At what point will things be redirected to a new server?

Hi,

I am not assuming people would know to look at the page provided prior to being told it has the required information.  I simply provided the page for future reference to anyone that wants to bookmark it.  That is the page where the information is given on server status, and although I can note your input on the issue to management, I cannot change the current location, so right now it is http://www.lunarpages.com/login.php where you find that information.

As for the other points noted, I understand your frustration in this issue.  I do not have an ETA on when everything would be back to normal nor do I know what the plans might be.  I will ask one of our technicians to reply or provide further information for these points.

Thanks

Hey guys..

Just an update we are working on blocking the the ip's causing the attack and hope to have some resolution soon. The server is backonline but you may receive packet loss during this time. I'll post an update when i have more information for you.

Also the battery has decided to charge at this time :(
Best Regards, Ryan

Network Status:
All servers okay.

I still can't access my cpanel or webmail on kupio.  I need my e-mail to get my show prep to do this morning radio show... Starts in 20 minutes! YIKES!!!  This has been down since about 10PM last night.

The fuzzmartin.com domain actually traces to the laffan server, not kupio.  If you were trying to login via the kupio server, this would explain why you have been unable to do so.  I was able to login to your account so all seems to be working normally.  You can login via fuzzmartin.com/cpanel or fuzzmartin.com/webmail
