No, I meant the one that is in the pop up window.

Also, it might help you not have to retype your username if you put it into the sig field in your profile. :)

I think your site is beautifully done! I like the intro very much. I enjoy taking digital photos too, but I'm afraid it won't be for profit.  :-?  Your photos are just beautiful and so illuminated with color and light. Just gorgeous. I think you will be very successful!

It looks very nice, the flash is amazing.... but you do have a problem, it isn't accessible, http://www.delorie.com/web/lynxview.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.takenbydigital.com%2Fhome.html
take a look at that. any blind person, or more importantly any Search Engine will see that, im guessing  [front-pic3.jpg] isnt really descriptive of your truly amazing work.
I suggest you take some time and read about accessibility (hey if it can help your search engine rankings, it cant be all bad, can it?)
here are a few great articles to get you started:

there are plenty more where those came from if you are interested...

I hope this helps you out,

I don't mean to be insensitive toward the blind... but takenbydigital'ssite is a photo site and thus is something that they would be unable to experience completely... :? It is already hard trying to do a photo site that could accomodate as many people of various bandwidth and screen quality, yet knowing that some will be left out due to the nature of the medium.  :-?

Thanks for the kind words about my website Kadis, I thank you for you're idea regarding accessability, although what tranz said is quite true, my site is basically a gallery for my work, visual images.  I will take a look at the sites you mentioned and will fix the [front-pic] note but I don't know if my site could ever be fully appreciated unless you could see the main subject, being my photographs...I will have a look and see if any of the suggestions in the sites you posted could be applied...I'm just sorry that because  of the visual medium in which I work, not every internet user will be able to see... :(

Thanks again

Accessibliity is not just for the blind. Their are a lot of people with other disabilities who might want to see your site.

I think your site looks pretty good, but I would get rid of the intro page.  I hate going to sites that have flash intros. I'm not saying it looks bad, but what's the point? If I go to site, I want to see the content, not an intro page that takes forever to load. The worst example I've seen of this is one site that took 2-3 minutes to load on broadband! That is horrible. Keep in mind that if people are coming to your site, they probably are interested in your product, content and/or services. Why make them wait to get to those things?

very true
and to quote myself:

or more importantly any Search Engine

you see it doesnt matter if all you want to show off is your images, search engines are blind, they only can see what you Tell them.  if you make a site that only a seeing person can benifit, but a blind person (or search engine) feels right at home, chances are your search rankings will increce, and your site's popularity will grow.

Hey ill be honest, I agree a blind person wont really like your photos, but if you describe them, and make them reachable (by making the site accesble!) you will get more people on your site, and hey if you want to get more in depth,  find a little about longdesc http://www.netmechanic.com/news/vol6/accessibility_no16.htm, If a person gets a  good description of your images, whether they can see them or not, they might be interested in showing your site to a seeing person.....

The list goes on.... for instance a person visiting with a PDA, unless they have flash installed ( and i dont know of any handhelds that do ) will just see what lynx viewer saw, and trust me, that won't have them coming back.

basicly there is no reason NOT to be accesible, because people with PDA's, Search Engines, disabled, and most importantly YOU can benifit from it, hey  if you dont believe me look at the big web design guys, like stop design (stopdesign.com), if you are wondering they are the people who redid blogger.com.

well good luck in which ever direction you choose....

Thanks for the input, well I did think twice before adding a flash intro page, the reaon I did it was to add to the "visual Experience" of my webpage, because photography is a visual art, I wanted some way to begin that process....

My webpage has been online for about 2 or 3 weeks now, i'm now listed in most of the major search engines (google, msn, yahoo, joeant, mixcat, lycos) etc....Waiting on DMOZ....This is my very first webpage that I have done myself so I am very appreciative of the feedback you are giving me...My alexa traffic ranking has gone from 2.9 million to 960,000 whatever that means lol...

On the accessability issue, I am not exactly sure what to do, I can understand the concept, I am just not sure about the implimentation, how would I describe my photographs?  Would search engines even catalog that stuff?  I hear google doesn't  index everything in the page....Where would these "image descriptions" go?  How would I describe the abstract shots?  Obviously the lynx viewer link that I went to showed a whole load of stuff, including the indexing links to make google and other search engines find all my pages...

I think (sorry about my rambling) what I am asking is what do I do to make my page accessable, i'm new to the concept of SEO and so any tips would be most appreciated..

Sincerely

takenbydigital.

To describe an image you can, if you wish, get poetic.  what i mean by that, is how would a poet describe what is going on in the photo.... etc...

as far as how google indexes, im not that smart, but these people are!
and as far as accesibility, did you read this?
Building Accessible Websites its involves a detailed description on how to "Build Accessible Websites" -- stuff i wouldnt trust myself to tell you corectly.

hmm why suggest the second link if you don't tryst the content??  I have read the info on google, it really sounds like there is a lot I can do, but obviously this will take a little time, to be quite honest, I really don't know if describing the image will work for me, I mean I am okay at photography but as far as poetry goes, thats another story lol....
