adding a parked domain
« on: March 30, 2004, 05:36:08 PM »
Trying to add iandouglas.com to point to my w98.us domain space using cpanel... get this as output:

Quote

Nameserver ips for iandouglas.com are: 216.193.194.212,216.193.207.106 Bind reloading on jupiter using rndc zone: [iandouglas.com] Error reloading bind on jupiter: rndc: connect failed: connection refused Bind reloading on ns1 using ndc Error reloading bind on ns1: Reload initiated. Bind reloading on ns2 using rndc zone: [iandouglas.com] Error reloading bind on ns2: Zone not found.
Created DNS entry for iandouglas.com

Setup Mail forward iandouglas.com -> w98.us
Setup iandouglas.com OK
Adding httpd.conf entry for iandouglas.com to point to w98.us

iandouglas.com is set to use ns1.lunarpages.com/ns2.lunarpages.com for its DNS entries, yet it seems to be pointing at an old server when I do a 'dig' command in Linux to look up the domain record from LP's DNS systems:

;; AUTHORITY SECTION:

How do I get around this? For the time being, I've posted a redirect page on the old server to bounce the user to LP's server, but this old server of mine will be going offline in April and I need to get this resolved (no pun intended)

A traceroute and nslookup both show it going to our jupiter server now.

Okay, you've this entry for me, but haven't fixed the problem from happening again :o) I tried adding a second parked domain and getting the same error:

I think you can ignore the bind errors. The domains are being parked and are pointing to your primary domain. I checked them both with traceroute and nslookup at http://www.centralops.net/co/

When you change your domain nameservers or purchase a new domain, it takes 24-72 hours for the changes to propagate around the Internet. I see a changed date of 4-5-04 on wild98webhosting.com which is yesterday. I see it going to the right place from my ISP but it may not appear yet for someone else on a different ISP until fully propagated.
