FTP and IP
« on: October 30, 2018, 06:47:42 PM »
So we receive giant paper statements from a customer, which I have the option to get digitally from here on (yes please, no more line by line data entry woo!) but they asked me to send them the IP of my FTP site. I can set them up an FTP account but where do I find the IP?

Ta,
M

EDIT: omg never mind, I'm an idiot.

Normally, someone would FTP access via a named server (e.g., ftp.mysite.com) rather than an IP address, particularly if it's a shared server (an IP address is not unique to your account).

Do not give others your account's master FTP sign-on (it's a security risk). Set them up with their own FTP account (logon and password). That way, they have access to only a small sandbox, rather than to everything.

Is it possible to change the master FTP sign-on info, MrPhil?

I couldn't tell you for sure, as I've never tried it. I suggest that you open a support ticket and ask them how to do it. Be sure to explain exactly what you want to do, so they understand you correctly.
