email filter action Fail With Message
« on: May 23, 2018, 09:22:14 PM »
Has anyone gotten the "Fail With Message" action to work?
I set up a filter with the rule: if "To" contains abcde to "Fail With Message" with the message being "... no such address ..." .
When I send an email to abcde from a yahoo of gmail account the email never arrives (as expected) but there is no message sent bach to the sending yahoo or gmail account.
So apparently the  "Fail With Message" action does not work.
Any ideas?

have you used the "Filter Test" option on the page where you setup the filter?

"Filter Test" option does not apply. The "Actions" setting is "Fail With Message" so there is no message to copy into the "Filter Test" box.
BUT: I know that the filter works because I see the incoming message in the "Track Delivery" listing. It lists the email form gmail.com to asdf@my_domain and tags it as "message could not be delivered" with "Result" "Your mail not delivered. There is no asdf." which is the message my filter is set up to send back. So lunar pages is telling me that this message went back to the sender at gmail. But the sender at gmail (my account there) never gets that message. So there is obviously some bug in the rejected email implementation at Lunar pages.

Update: Message does go out if the "Default Address" is deleted. Setting a "Default Address" disables the message specified under "Fail With Message". Makes no sense.
