Title: IO::Socket problems
Post by: jewelrybox.erol on May 23, 2014, 05:03:12 AM
How do I write to a socket from the server using Perl.
I am not able to connect to the server port.
I'm on a shared server.
The server port is 80.

http://perldoc.perl.org/Socket.html

Have you tried that already?

I tried using the IO::Socket module.
I'm not sure if I'm using the correct port and hostname.

On a shared server, you will be severely limited in the kinds of things you can do. I wouldn't be surprised if you're not allowed to access any ports. If you haven't done so already, I'd open a support ticket and ask them if you're allowed to do this thing. If not, tell them what you trying to accomplish, and maybe they can tell you an alternate approach.
