Title: My portfolio site
Post by: Rughster on January 23, 2012, 06:32:20 AM
Hey everyone,

I was in the forums researching something for one of my client's sites and saw this section, decided to toss my site out there.

While I have dozens of sites with Lunarpages, this one is my pride and joy:

Nice site. (http://Lunarpages.com/cat/6-5/vbulletin-smile.gif). Did you use a template for this?

I'm assuming that this isn't your first time building one.

Nope, no template. Totally built from scratch.

Well, actually, if you get a flash developer that knows what he's doing there is no hit on SEO.

Most search engines read flash text, as long as its in text form (not graphic, like a JPG), but that's not how it should be done and another discussion altogether.

All my content (images, text, links, etc) are in XML --  search engines read XML, if you allow them to. Some say XML is better for SEO than HTML, that's debatable though.

So you only need to recover what search term the search engine is trying to pick up through the XML and redirect it to the appropriate section or page in Flash. Pretty easy, if you know what your doing. However, it's pretty sad that most people are pretty lazy and use Flash as a graphical crutch -- an easy way out, because they don't want to learn AS3.

That is really awesome flash designing. Nice freelanced apps to social networks.
