Have you used Photoshop before and know how to do masking?

If not, then here's a thread that has one way to do masking that may help you get started:

Photoshop has a unique user interface where you choose tools for creating customized graphics. It is user friendly and is appropriate for beginners as well as professional graphic designers.

If you are curious about the subject but not sure that you're ready to spend hundreds of dollars buying Photoshop, GIMP is a free open source product that has most of Photoshop's capabilities. If you are going to need an absolutely top quality tool with top quality documentation for constant use (e.g., a professional graphics designer), Photoshop is what you want. If you're just getting your feet wet, or only do graphics once in a while, you might be better off with GIMP, at least as a start.

I've been using Photoshop for years and there is still a lot about it I don't know. Take it one step at a time, if you can't figure it out, search the internet and you should be able to find a tutorial or other guide. Start with the easy stuff; image sizing, exposure, contrast, dodge and burn, filters(like sharpness), etc. Learn how to produce good looking images before you start the trick stuff.

Photoshop is wonderful. The more you learn how to use photoshop, the more it can improve your skills.
