Title: THANK YOU LARRY WALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Post by: Zorfox on January 25, 2003, 12:49:00 AM
I had a phpBB forum running on http://forums.zorfox.net/ (http://forums.zorfox.net/) (I know, you think this should go in the PHP/MySQL forum, but let me finish!)

I uploaded the subBlack theme from www.phpBB.com. (http://www.phpBB.com.) Now, the stupid person who made it chmoded all files 0600. The theme killed my forum when it tried to read from the files. I was in for either 1 hour of deleting and then reconfiurating the forum, or 1 hour of chmoding files.

Well, thank goodness for Perl. Within minutes, I had all the files chmoded and working. (Well actually it took me about 15 minutes to figure that I should USE perl in the first place and another 15 to figure out how to do it, but I could have done it in minutes.)

Thank you mass chmoding!

yup, but I had about 50-75 files to chmod. as far as I know, you can only chmod one file at a time in cpanel, and I have no idea how to work ftp.

That is frustrating.

FTP is very easy to use actually.

www.download.com (http://www.download.com) has a section on ftp software. I'm using "bulletproof ftp" at the moment. www.bpftp.com (http://www.bpftp.com)

Windows has a built in ftp program (type ftp in Start-Run) but it's hard to use for most people.
