Title: How hosting is important for SEO.?
Post by: KristinMontgomery on December 27, 2018, 12:55:42 AM
I know that the hosting has an affect on seo. As their are many hosting service providers like <competitor names removed> etc. which are claiming to provide hosting for seo. But, I would like to know how is it so.? I mean two are purely different things. So, how is this all even interrelated with each other.
It is ok for many people to just know that hosting has an affect on seo but I want to dig deep into every issue that's why I am asking for the reason.

"Hosting for SEO" is marketing hype. Of course, the performance of a host (speed at which pages are served) goes into SE rankings, so that counts a bit. A host may offer SEO services, which otherwise you'd have to buy separately (if you don't do it yourself), but that's a sideline for them. The hosting itself is not going to be all that different from other hosts.

Many experts claim that the main factor web hosting is playing in your SEO is actually how fast they load your website. Considering the fact the major search engines have started paying attention to the time it takes to load a webpage into their overall ranking algorithms, speed does play an important role.

Website load time much depends on hosting company. If you have less SSD space allocated, then the website may not perform.

The question of hosting is often mentioned when talking about SEO, sometimes wrongly elsewhere. Is the country where the server is hosted important? Should we be wary of "neighbors" spammers, present on the same machine? Should we opt for a shared, dedicated server or another solution? What is a "good" and a "bad" web host in terms of SEO? This article aims to make a clear point on all these topics, sometimes close enough to urban legends..

When a website project is launched, or when a project to migrate to a new platform or a new version is initiated, it is often the subject of the SEO implications of the choice of hosting is simply ignored. Still, the impact on your SEO of bad hosting can be extremely strong.

Which type of accommodation to choose? What are the points of attention?

We will try to answer these questions during this article, by twisting the neck in the passage to some received ideas and some urban legends that are current in the small world of SEOs.

In short - it does, to some extent. But not THAT much. You shouldn’t really worry about it.

The most important bits to consider for SEO when choosing a hosting provider is:

Server location and domain extension. Choose a server location closest to your target audience’s location. If targeting Canadians, get a .ca domain extension.

Speed. Website loading speed does affect SEO. The faster your website is, the better. So get faster web hosting with SSD, caching, latest software, cloud hosting instead of shared hosting etc.

HTTPS. You should install an SSL certificate, most hosting providers offer a free SSL through their control panel. So you can install it with a couple of clicks. Websites with SSL get better rankings.

Uptime. If your website is down and offline constantly, you’ll of course lose rankings. You may even be deindexed.
Other websites on the same IP. If you’re using shared hosting, you are sharing the same IP address with many other websites. So if most of those websites are spammy, your website will also be associated with “bad SEO”. You can avoid this by getting hosting with a dedicated IP address for your website only.
